CHRIS NEWTON

Musical Director

Chris was born in Wolverhampton.  His interest in music began at an early age with study of French Horn and Piano.  He graduated with a BA Honours Degree in Performance Arts from Middlesex Polytechnic, where his enthusiasm for Musical Theatre lead him to musically direct productions of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and MY FAIR LADY.

After his studies, Chris worked for a short time as a Lecturer in Performing Arts at the Polytechnic of Central London.  His career as a professional musician began playing keyboards and musical directing a number of Pantomimes and Summer Seasons.  During this time he also worked as an arranger for various recordings.

Chris played keyboards on the Zurich production of CATS, and subsequently went on to become the Assistant Musical Director on the European Tour playing in various cities in Switzerland, Austria, France and Italy.  When the tour ended he went on to spend a further two years with CATS, this time with the Hamburg production.  In 1998 he became the Musical Director of the German production of STARLIGHT EXPRESS.   Having spent the last seven years in Europe, Chris is now very happy to be returning to England and working on the tour of SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER.
